Day 14: Milford, CT – East Coast journey officially ends

We started to Milford where I lived during my first visit to the U.S. Alok and Srikanth, friends who worked with me in GE during those days, still live in Connecticut working for companies around that area. Then they got married and had kids so this was our second reunion after I left Connecticut.

By this time, hurricane Sandy was very much in news and Philadelphia and New Jersey weather did not look very encouraging. Some friends even suggested getting out of east coast as early as possible. Since we are staying with friends, there was no reason to panic. We returned the car at Hertz and rented a smaller SUV at Milford and then went to eat in UNO, an Italian place in Boston Post Road.

Milford does not look as vivid as in my memories. It looked older and it may be the overcast weather. The farmers market we used to frequent for vegetables and fruits was closed. Alok’s wife Sulakhna and daughter Ankita were home waiting for us when we reached their Robert Treat apartment. Alok came in by the evening after work and Srikanth joined with his family for an extended dinner. It felt the same old Shelton days again but this time we were mostly spending time recollecting.
